CHARLIE DIMMOCK IS COMING TO SOUTH AFRICA, COURTESY OF GARDENEX & GREEN LIVING FAIR 2009
One of Britain’s favourite gardening celebrities and the world’s first horticultural sex symbol, Charlie Dimmock, will be lighting up Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009. With a great reputation for bringing glamour to gardening in BBC’s Ground Force, keen gardeners in South Africa are sure to flock to the Coca Cola dome in Northriding, Gauteng on Fri 27 to Sun 29 March 2009 to meet her, followed by their husbands, of course.
Charlie burst onto the public scene, adding a unique flair on BBC’s Ground Force, gaining fame not only for her insightful hints and tips on gardening; but also for her free-spirited approach that has viewers glued to their television screens week after week, and, of course, her fearless adventures on the show. South Africa’s own Nelson Mandela, has likened this flame-haired garden-guru to the Spice Girls, so popular has she become. Charlie and her green-fingered team from Ground Force transformed Madiba’s garden paying tribute to our much loved Father of the nation.
Charlie has presented many popular programmes including The Joy of Gardening, Charlie’s Garden Army, Cheer for Charlie, Charlie and the Duchess, Charlie’s Gardening Neighbours and also covered the Chelsea Flower Show for the BBC.
As a renowned author, Charlie’s list of publications has grown and includes Ground Force Water Garden Workbook, Ground Force Container Gardening, Enjoy Your Garden and a 400-page magazine, At Home With Charlie. South African gardeners have received these publications with enthusiasm. She is a regular contributor to the UK’s national press’ gardening pages and one of the most sought after gardening speakers in the world.
Gardenex & Green Living Fair Project Manager, Wendy Graham says, “We are delighted that Charlie Dimmock has agreed to be a part of Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009. She has a wealth of experience and is one of the world’s leading gardening experts. Not only does she give keen gardeners in the UK a regular dose of gardening tips and advice, she is respected across the world for adding a new, fun and contemporary approach to gardening. Her incredible work ethic and love of gardening has given the gardening industry much-needed excitement, to the delight of gardeners and non-gardeners alike.”
With gardening a popular hobby among many South Africans, Charlie’s contribution will offer visitors to Gardenex & Green Living Fair the ideal opportunity to see what the international scene can offer. Charlie will present workshops at the show and Reader Events in Cape Town Wed 25 March and Durban on Thurs 26 March with Tanya Visser, editor of The Gardener and Die Tuinier.
Modern gardening and Charlie Dimmock are synonymous; she adds a special touch to gardens all over the world with fresh, innovative ideas. We are really excited to be able to bring this most inspiring personality to South Africa.
