New and exciting things are happening! Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009 is set to take the festival of gardens beyond the wildest imagination. The show will be under the spotlight with international focus firmly fixed on South Africa to prove our ability to host the World Orchid Conference (WOC). With South Africa and the Orchid Society of Northern Transvaal (ONT) being provisionally awarded the WOC in 2014, Gardenex & Green Living Fair is the yardstick to measure our facilities.
Gardenex & Green Living Fair Project Manager, Wendy Graham, says, “The world’s most romantic flower, the orchid, makes its mark at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009. With South Africa being awarded the World Orchid Conference in 2014, we are celebrating this milestone and another notch in South Africa’s international event hosting calendar. Singapore has been awarded the WOC in 2011 and will be putting on a dream display at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009, in association with ONT.”
On top of this, acclaimed UK horticulturist, Charlie Dimmock of BBC’s Ground Force fame, is a special guest at Gardenex & Green Living Fair 2009. She will be hosting talks throughout the weekend and offering visitors a glimpse of what’s hot in the international gardening scene. With a great reputation for bringing glamour to gardening, South African gardeners are sure to flock to Gardenex & Green Living Fair to meet her.
Charlie added a unique flair on BBC’s Ground Force, gaining fame not only for her insightful hints and tips on gardening; but also for her free-spirited approach and her fearless adventures on the show. Nelson Mandela, has likened this flame-haired garden-guru to the Spice Girls, so popular has she become. Charlie and her green-fingered team from Ground Force transformed Madiba’s garden paying tribute to our much loved Father of the nation.
