GARDENEX & OUTDOOR LIVING FAIR 2008 GREENED THE FUTURE FOR GARDEN EVENTS
Gardenex & Outdoor Living Fair, held at the Coca-Cola dome from 18 to 20 April 2008, has paved the way for an exciting future for the gardening industry. This year the industry body, the South African Green Industry Council, fully endorsed the event, providing vital support and credibility while boosting consumer confidence.
The exhibition space was fully subscribed for the first time with a total of 163 exhibitors, a 25 percent increase from the year before.
As always, the weekend was packed with fun-filled activities including Ready Steady Plant hosted by The Gardener Editor, Tanya Visser, a real hit with audiences, with Miss Earth SA finalists getting stuck into the fun as well, book launches by Briza Books complete with signings by renowned authors Keith Kirsten and Margaret Roberts, free vouchers from Mangwanani Spa, a Cadbury’s Kids Garden designed by radio personality and horticulturist, Lynton Johnson and, the highlight of the event, the giving away of a trip for two to accompany Keith Kirsten to the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK. Glynis Scott of Springs was the lucky winner of this much sought-after prize.
The new Gardenex & Outdoor Living Fair also saw the introduction of the all new pet section, Paws Aboard. Sponsored by pet magazine, Animal Talk, pet owners were treated to the latest in pet accessories and nutrition. This proved to be a success as it is widely accepted that keen gardeners are also responsible pet owners.
The future is looking bright for Gardenex & Outdoor Living Fair, and the planning for 2009 is already underway. We trust all the major industry players that shared in the success this year will once again be a part of Gardenex & Outdoor Living Fair 2009. |
